Why we love PR

"Public relations is the discipline which looks after reputation, with the aim of earning understanding and support and influencing opinion and behaviour. It is the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its publics."

Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR)

As a leading Public Relations agency based in the North East, we’ve worked on regional and national PR campaigns for big brands, start-ups and a whole host of companies in between and we love it  - we thought we’d tell you why.

In the competitive business landscape, companies are constantly vying for the attention of their customers and stakeholders meaning that a good reputation is essential but Public Relations is often misunderstood. “It’s all about spin”, “writing a press release is easy!”, “PR is expensive and there’s no return on investment” - we’ve heard them all (and debunked them in a previous blog if you’d like to take a gander).

As some of you may be aware, we’ve been shortlisted by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations for Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy of the Year so you can be sure you’re in the very best hands when working with us.

No two days are the same

There are many elements to a typical PR day - researching, writing, pitching - that no two days are ever the same.

While on one day we may be sat at our desks developing campaign plans or press releases, the next we could be pulling on our wellies to stand in a field of sheep for an exciting film project, attending client meetings or organising media interviews with local press.

Our work takes us all over the region and beyond - what’s not to love about getting out and about to meet great clients?

Everyday’s a school day

Because we work on a wide ranging portfolio with clients in pretty much every industry you can think of across the North East and beyond, we’re forever learning and our skills set is always growing.

In the last year alone, we’ve learnt more about gluten-free brewing, lambing, lighthouses and cloud IT solutions than we ever thought we would.

We’re skilled in taking often technical or complex information and turning it into engaging PR materials - such as press releases, blogs, social media posts or features - that can be understood by target audiences (often the general public).

Meeting interesting people

From local business owners, influencers, MP’s or the odd celebrity, our job means that we get to work with many interesting individuals and businesses. We regularly host press launches, blogger days and VIP events and it’s always a pleasure to add to our growing contact list.

Due to all of the meeting and greeting we do, our ‘it’s who you know’ network is forever expanding which is great news for our customers as we like to make introductions where we see synergy between clients.

Creativity

We love unearthing new opportunities for our clients - whether that’s radio or television interviews, features in regional or national publications or the chance to sponsor big events.

We like to think of creative ways to help our clients get their messages heard - so we’re not shy in sharing great opportunities to our clients or contacts.

Key to all of this is our tailored deliver - there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to PR or anything that we do for client. Ever.

Innovation

We’ve watched the Public Relations industry transform from traditional print and broadcast media to fully take hold of digital world and we’ve learned a thing or two over the years. We stay on top of what is trending while sharing our knowledge with our clients. Newer technologies such as social media and online marketing provide us with a valuable resource to help our clients reach their objectives.

While some agencies remain bogged down by ‘old hat’ tactics, we’re grounded in traditional PR while also providing a fresh approach to communications - providing our clients and the media with contemporary campaigns which deliver.

Your success is our success

Because we work with you as an extension of your internal marketing team, we genuinely believe that your success is our success. Despite all our years of securing media coverage for our clients, we still get excited when we see our clients in the news - that’s the power of PR.

From working with you to develop your key messages to sharing your story in the press, our award-winning communications team provide professional support for all aspects of your PR.
